Daily Itinerary

Our staff will greet you at Lhasa Airport/Railway Station to transfer you to the hotel. From Lhasa Airport to downtown Lhasa, it usually takes about 1 hour; from Lhasa Railway Station, it takes about 20 minutes. After the transfer to the hotel, you will be free to wander around the city on your own for the rest of the day but try not to overtax yourself. On the first day's well-rest is crucial to acclimatize to the high altitude. Remember to drink lots of water, eat light, and not take a shower if you can help it.

Stay overnight in Lhasa

In the morning your guide will meet you at the hotel and take you to visit the famous Potala Palace, the cardinal landmark of Tibet and the masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. It was first built by the 33rd King Songtsen Gangpo in the 7th century and rebuilt later by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Now it is a museum and world heritage site.

In the afternoon, we will go to visit Jokhang Temple in the center of the old Lhasa city. Jokhang Temple is the most sacred temple in Tibet and it is always bustling with earnest local pilgrims since the early days. After that, you will take a walk around the Barkhor Street which is one of the most devotional circuits as well as a crowded central market of Lhasa. Barkhor Street is a very ancient round street surrounding the Jokhang Temple and the locals are always proud of it. As a symbol of Lhasa, it is also a must-see place for visitors.

Stay overnight in Lhasa

After breakfast, set off for Nagqu, along the way to watch the Lhasa River, the prairie of northern Tibet, and the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. After crossing the Nagenla Mountain at 5,190, you can see the excellent view of the merging lake and sky, as well as "God of Light" from a distance - Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains. Here is Namtso, one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet, with an elevation of 4,718 meters. Namtso means "Heavenly Lake" and ranks first among the Three Sacred Lakes in Tibet. You also can visit Tashi island to have close contact with the holy lake. After that, drive to Nagqu city.

Stay overnight in Nagqu.

After breakfast, proceed to the mysterious "Skull Wall" in Biru County - a wall made of human skulls. Next to the Skull Wall, there's a celestial burial platform, which is built on the hillside near the Darmu Temple where colorful prayer flags are fluttering in front of the door and window. The skull wall is actually earth walls with wooden frames built on the south and west and arranged with human skulls in each grid.

Afterwards, head to the Pala Pagoda. On the way, you can see the first bay of the Nujiang River which is majestic, beautiful and unique. Pala Pagoda is named after one of the crystal towers. The building is fabulous in the architectural history of the Tibetan Pagoda and rare in the world. And there are rich cultural relics in the pagoda. In Buddhism, pilgrims would circuit along the pagoda, prostrate and pray, which is counted as virtue perfection.

Stay overnight at Sepu Base Camp. Here you can watch the sunset and sunrise of the Sapu Mountains. If the weather is good, you can also take pictures of golden snow mountain and the splendid galaxy.

Sepu Kangri, known as the Great White Snow God by locals, is one of the sacred mountains of Tibetan primary religion - Bon. Its highest peak is 6956 meters. The Sepu Sacred Lake is formed by the melting snow from the sacred mountain for thousands of years. It extends from the foot of the mountain and is divided into two parts. The one near the foot of the sacred mountain is the Samu Co lake, and the other part is the main lake - the Sepu Glacier Lake. The water here is clear and clean.

In the morning, we will hike along the lake, towards the glaciers of Sepu Mountain Range. You can adjust according to your physical condition. Every summer, Sapu Mountain presents a different style: the top of the mountain is covered with ice and snow, while the bottom of the mountain is full of water and grass, which contrasts with the top of the mountain, but makes people feel natural and harmonious.

Turn back to Biru County. Stay overnight in Biru.

Drive along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway in Changtang Grassland to Lhasa. Changtang Grassland, aka. Northern Tibet Grassland, surrounded by the Kunlun Mountains, Tanggula Mountains and Gangdise Mountains, with an average altitude of 4,500 meters, is a natural grassland in Tibet. You can see meadows, mountains, Gobi, and lakes spread throughout the area. The dotted yaks are scattered all over the pasture, and the scenery outside the car is charming.

Stay overnight in Lhasa.
