Hello, I am a Brit currently living in Beijing and I was wondering what is the cost for this 7-day trip to Tibet? I am hoping to plan a visit in the last week of January/the first week of February. Will it be too cold for this tour to be on then? Will there be a tour group being arranged for then? Many thanks, Greta

Due to Tibet's unique background, apart from a Passport and a Chinese Visa, all foreign tourists allowed to enter Tibet must have Tibet Permits. However, Tibet Permits will not be issued for all tours from January 24th to March because of Tibetan New Year, so how about having Tibet tour in early January?

Yes, we have 6 days Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse small group tour in January, here is the brief itienrary,

In your inquiry, you mentioned that you would like to visit Tibet in December. To be frank, the best option for a solo traveler is to join a small group tour to keep the cost down. So far, we have only one set group in December – the 7-day Lhasa Mt. Everest Kathmandu Overland Group Tour with a departure date on 8th. December. Please check the itinerary as below.

In your inquiry, you’d like to join our 7 days Beijing Lhasa Train Tour include 1 day Lhasa Namtso Lake tour. If you go to Namtso Lake from Lhasa then go back to Lhasa, it will take you 9 hrs in the car. So I suggest you go to another holy lake in Tibet- Yamtrok lake on that day. It takes about 5 hours in the car.

Hello, I am interested in the above tour to Tibet. May I please enquire how much it would cost? I would be travelling in July anytime from the 9th (depending on visa issuance). Many thanks, Mammie

In your inquiry, you mentioned that you are interested in our 7-day Beijing Lhasa Train Tour, which is a private tour with a departure date of any time after 9th. July.

Here are two things.

  1. Based on our experience, the best option for a solo traveler is to join a small group tour to keep the cost down. Because for a private tour, all the cost in on you, like the guide, the vehicle, etc. And a tour in Tibet is not cheap.
  2. Now traveling to Tibet by train is so popular that the demand for train tickets far exceeds the supply. Although the tickets are started to sell online 30 days before departure, you are hard to get one as they will be sold out in a short time, especially from April to October, the peak season of Tibet tourism. Thus, if you want to take a train from Beijing to Lhasa, I am afraid you have to wait until the end of July as there are no tickets left except for hard-seat tickets.
