My fiance and i are eloping in nepal this november and we’d like to visit Tibet as well. After submiting our documents to you online for a permit, do we have to visit a local agency as well in a gateway city? Do we have to stay in that gateway city for a specified amount of time? Could you please tell me the procedure for two American citizens entering from Kathmandu?

Caroline

In your inquiry, you mentioned that you and your fiancé would like to visit Tibet from Kathmandu in late November.

You don’t need to visit a travel agency in a gateway city. If foreign traveler will enter Tibet from mainland China, we usually suggest them spend one night in the gateway city as foreigners need to provide the original Tibet Permit when boarding the flights to Lhasa. We will deliver the permit to the hotel that travelers booked in mainland China. Then they can get it when checking in. And if they don't stay overnight before departing for Lhasa, we need to hire a guide to send the permit to the airport. The cost should be on traveler's expense. The price depends on different cities and time to the airport.

But if you will enter Tibet from Kathmandu, it’s easier because you don’t need to get the Chinese Visa in your country. Your passport copy is enough for us to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit. According to the regulations, you have to apply for the China Group Visa in Kathmandu under a Nepali travel agency’s help. We have a long-term Nepali partner who can help you with it. It takes at least three working days and needs your original passport.

In your inquiry, you mentioned that you would like to join our 8-day Lhasa to Shigatse and Namtso Group Tour in 2019. So far, we don’t have any set group tours in May 2019. And according to our booking policy, for this tour, a minimum of 2 people for opening a new group is required.

We have another 10-day Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse Everest Namtso Group Tour which is available for a solo traveler to be the first customer. And you could choose the departure date based on your schedule since there is still a long time for us to recruit other group members. Please check the itinerary as below.

I read the details of your 6 and 8 day trip and I like both. But which one of your tours includes visiting Pala Manor? Second, in Tripadvisor Tibet Forum train Z6802, Lhasa to Xining, is described as being worth taking it in the morning, to or from Lhasa, because it goes along the most beautiful part of a train journey in Tibet. It passes the Namtso lake and the Kunlun pass at day time. Can I fly to Xining from Hongkong or Gangzhou, then take this train to Xining when I take one of your tour?

Image

nance

Are you mentioned our 6 days Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse Group Tour and 8 days Lhasa to Shigatse and Namtso Group Tour? In these two group tours, they don’t include visiting Pala Manor.

There is no train called Z6802 from Xining to Lhasa. It’s Z6801 and opens on Every other day. You can also choose Z6811. It opens Every day and you will visit beautiful landscape during the daytime. Yes, you can fly to Xining from Hongkong or Gangzhou, then take a train( Z6801/ Z6811 ) to Lhasa.

According to your request, I recommend you join our 8 days Lhasa to Shigatse and Namtso Group Tour on Oct 8th. In this tour, you will visit two holy lakes in Tibet such as Yamdroktso Lake and Namtso Lake.

Hi there, I am looking at taking this trip October 2019 second or 3rd week of the month. One person. Can you tell me what the comfort package would cost including flights Katmandu - Lhasa return. Etheon.

In your inquiry, you mentioned that you would like to join our 8-day Lhasa to Shigatse and Namtso Group Tour in October 2019. To be honest, it’s quite far from now that we haven’t had the rates for tours in 2019 yet. I can only give you an itinerary and quotation of 2018 for your reference. Even we could not check the rate of the round-trip flights from Kathmandu to Lhasa in October 2019 now. It’s around USD1000 for the economy class in 2018.

Besides, for this tour, a minimum of 2 people for opening a new group is required. It means, a solo traveler could only join a confirmed group tour but could not open a group based on his/her schedule. Hope to have your understanding!
