Knowing what you expect to see or do in Tibet will help determine how long you should stay. We recommend at least 4 days for visiting the essential attractions of Lhasa . If you are interested in experiencing more out of Lhasa, like holy lakes, glaciers, majesty Mt. Generally speaking, the best time to visit Tibet is from April to October. However, it entirely depends on what you want to see and to do. In fact, most tourist spots in Tibet, such as Lhasa, Everest Base Camp, Shigatse, etc, can be visited at any time of the year. But a certain time of the year is better than others. For visiting Everest Base Camp, you may go there in April and May, or September and October with a clear sky and awesome visibility for having a better view of the Himalayas, and starry sky. For visiting Mount Kailash, you may go in July, August, September and early October, when the weather is moderate and the oxygen content is higher.

You can take direct flights from major cities of mainland China to Lhasa, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chengdu, or Kunming. You can also choose to take a train to Tibet. The top five cities to take a train to Tibet is Xining, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Shanghai.
