Tibet Small Group Tours

Tibet is vast, in that it normally covers a long mileage from point A to point B. Besides, the standard of living in Tibet is much higher than that of China’s inland provinces. For instance, if a can of soda sells for CNY 2 in China inland, it will be CNY 5 in Tibet. That’s why if you were traveling alone, it’s better to consider a Tibet tour group to share the expense with other travelers by saving at least 30%.

Led by our experts, the Small Group Tours include the most classic itineraries. With a maximum of 12 travelers and a minimum of 3 travelers, you will discover Tibet's best sights and enjoy a premium travel experience at an affordable price. The departure is guaranteed once you book confirmed group tour packages. Besides your group tour fees, no extra charge will be forced upon you.

Be smart with your money, join our fantastic group and enjoy a worry-free vacation!

Frequently Asked Questions

How to get a Tibet Travel Permit?

The Tibet Travel Permit is required for all international travelers visiting Tibet. Without it, you cannot board a flight or train to Tibet.

To apply for the permit, simply book a Tibet tour with us and send us a copy of your passport information page and your valid Chinese visa (if required). We will then submit your application to the Tibet Tourism Bureau on your behalf.

Processing usually takes 10–22 days, depending on your itinerary. Once the permit is issued, we will either deliver the original permit to your hotel in mainland China or email you a scanned copy, depending on how you plan to enter Tibet.

To ensure sufficient processing time, we recommend booking your tour and submitting the required documents at least one month before your departure for Tibet.

There are two main ways to enter Tibet: from mainland China or from Nepal.

From mainland China, international travelers need a valid Chinese visa (unless eligible for China's visa-free policy) before traveling to Tibet. You can fly directly to Lhasa from major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Kunming. Alternatively, you can take the scenic Qinghai-Tibet Railway, with the most popular departure cities including Xining, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Shanghai.

From Nepal, travelers need to obtain a China Group Visa through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, which typically takes 3 working days to process. You can either take a direct flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa (about 1.5 hours) or join a Nepal to Tibet overland tour, which usually takes 4 days from Kathmandu to Lhasa.

We provide a one-stop booking service for both train and flight tickets to Lhasa. Simply let us know your preferred travel dates and departure city, and our travel consultants will help you arrange the most suitable option.

It depends on where you would like to visit. The top three destinations in Tibet are Lhasa, Shigatse, and Nagri. Actually we have already designed the top three destinations in our itineraries.

For your first time trip to Tibet, if you have 4 to 6 days, you may have a glimpse of Tibet by joining 4 days Lhasa City Essential Group Tours or 6 Days Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse Group Tours. For most travelers, 8 Days Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse Mt. Everest Group Tour is our best seller. If you are going to have a pilgrimage trip, 15 Days Mt.Everest& Mt.Kailash Kora Pilgrimage Group Tour would be your choice.

If you are very interested in the natural landscape, 9 Days Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse Everest Namtso Group tour is a good choice. However, if you are going to Kathmandu, 7 Days Lhasa Everest Kathmandu Overland Group tour is perfect for you due to the good value and stunning scenery.

Generally speaking, the best time to visit Tibet is from April to October. However, it entirely depends on what you want to see and to do. In fact, most tourist spots in Tibet, such as Lhasa, Everest Base Camp, Shigatse, etc, can be visited at any time of the year. But a certain time of the year is better than others. For visiting Everest Base Camp, you may go there in April and May, or September and October with a clear sky and awesome visibility for having a better view of the Himalayas, and starry sky. For visiting Mount Kailash, you may go in July, August, September and early October, when the weather is moderate and the oxygen content is higher.

Usually, our group size is 3 to 6 people, the maximum number is 12. It’s our belief to ensure our members an excellent user-experience. Other travelers come from all over the world. It's fun to travel with global tourists with different backgrounds, professions, interests, and so on.

You are welcome to bring your children to join our Tibet group tours. We quote prices for children according to their age. For infants below 2 years old, they are free of charge. For children between 2 and 12, there's a significant discount if they don't occupy a bed. Teenagers aged 12 and over will be charged as adults.

Not definitely. Only 1 or 2 clients are going to the hospital due to altitude sickness among our thousands of travelers of all ranges of conditions every year. So the data is less than 0.1%. Please do not worry about it.

Generally speaking, altitude sickness is a series of physical discomfort when someone gets to a place with a high elevation, usually 2,700 meters (8,859 feet) and up. The elevation of Lhasa is 3,650 meters (11,975 feet). It's possible to have mild symptoms of altitude sickness like shortness of breath, tachycardia, or fast heart rate, headache, insomnia, and dizziness a few hours after your arrival. Usually, you will get restored in 2 days. In case the symptoms of high-altitude sickness persist, just inform your guide about it. Our travel guides are trained to handle any problem you will encounter in Tibet and they will send you to the hospital as soon as possible.

If you travel by train, you will adapt to the high altitude better as you will ascend gradually.

Sure, you can book hotels of your own choice. Please inform your travel consultant about your accommodation to synchronize everything for your tour (ensure pickup and dropoff). However, you might find it's hard to book a hotel or lodging in the remote regions in Tibet like Mt. Kailash and Everest Base Camp. Please feel free to turn to our staff for help.
