Kyichu Hotel in Lhasa is named after the Kyichu River, which in Tibetan is known as "the river of happiness". Its location is unbeatable as you can walk to Barkhor Square, Jokhang Temple, several good restaurants all in 5-10mins. It does require overlooking minor details regarding upkeep but overall the bathrooms and bedrooms were clean, beds comfortable, food acceptably-good and available all day (good yak burgers, curry and yak momas ie dumplings, Lhasa beer and ginger lemon tea) and the service was friendly and English speaking.
As one of the oldest private hotels in Lhasa catering to travellers, Kechu Hotel is a cozy 52-room, family run establishment. The 52 spacious rooms in traditional Tibetan decor ranging from standard to deluxe are all provided with attached bathroom and 24 hour hot/cold running water.
Besides, its indoor/outdoor Kyichu Garden Restaurant with umbrella tables on a spacious green courtyard lawn serves a wide selection of Continental, North Indian Tandoori, Nepalese and Tibetan dishes prepared by our experienced Tibetan and Nepalese chefs. Or just sit in the garden and relax nursing a drink or a pot of tea.
You will be treated as their family members, with personalized service and individual attention by the friendly and knowledgeable English-speaking staff.
