17 days tour Shanghai-Tibet-Kathmandu-Bangkok

Travel Itinerary:

Sep 21st Sun fly to Shanghai from USA (three of you will arrive in Shanghai)     Accommodation: Astor hotel****

Sep 22nd Mon sightseeing in Shanghai: visit Shanghai Pudong new developed area, and visit Eastern Bright Pear, visit NanPu Bridge, takes the deluxe sheep to visit HuangPu River. (Shari arrives in Shanghai)  Accommodation: Astor hotel****

Sep 23-25 take train from Shanghai to Lhasa: visit city Museum, Xin Tiandi, YuYuan Gardens, Shopping at Huaihai lu, (the itinerary is flexible; you can decide where to go after you arrive in Shanghai if the time is enough), pick you up to train station for train to Lhasa.  Accommodation: Shizheng hotel***

Sep 26-27 Fri-Sat sightseeing in Lhasa: visit Potala palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Norbulingka(also visit the Zoo), Tibet Museum Tibet Carpet factory.

Sep 28 Sun  Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake-Gyantse, Yamdrok Lake is one of most sacred lakes in Tibet, this afternoon, visit Palkhor monastery with kumbu pagoda. , en-route, visit Samding monastery, know something about femal Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism.

Sep 29 Mon Gyantse-Shigatse: visit Pala manor, few travelers visit there, but it is a good place for you knowing more lifestyle and civilization of Tibetan people, especially in history and nowadays. Visit Tashilumpo Monastery and Shigatse city

Sep 30 Tue Shigatse-Lhasa, en-route visit Yangpachen, you can take a hotspring bath if you like, the expense just on your own. it was said that the hotspring here is one of the best hotspring in Tibet.

Oct 1st Wed visit the Drak Yerpa Cave Complex, the Drak Yerpa caves are about an hour’s drive to the northeast of Lhasa. Songtsen Gampo meditated here, as did Padma Sambhava and several of his disciples. The site is strongly associated with Jowo Atisha and the early Kadampa masters. Then drive to Linzhou, and visit school and local Tibetan family. Drive back to Lhasa city this afternoon.

Oct 2nd Thu Lhasa-Namtso Lake, driving yaks or hors by the lake, stay overnight guesthouse by the lake, or drive to Dangxung County and stay in the guesthouse of the town if you meet altitude problem.

Oct 3rd Fri drive back to Lhasa city and visit Tibetan medicine hospital and learn something about Tibetan traditional medicine.

Oct 4th, Sat drive to the airport and take the flight to Kathmandu.

Oct 5th, in Kathmandu, accommodation: Kathmandu Guest House

Oct 6th, in Kathmandu, accommodation: Kathmandu Guest House

Oct 7th, take the flight to Bangkok.

Thank you for planning a successful and fantastic trip.

We apologize for all of the changes in plans, but making it possible for us to go to EBC was the best.

Do you have the final itinerary where you changed us going to the basecamp? I want to save it for my journal. If not, don't worry about it.

By the way, Lobsong was the best guide I have ever had. Linn and I have traveled the world, and he rates right up with the best. Thank you for allowing us to have him as our teacher. A good guide can make or break a trip. This will not be my last trip to Tibet, and I will spread the word about you and Lobsong to my friends who are anxious to repeat the same trip.
