Travel Itinerary:
Day 01 11 October Fly from Chengdu to Lhasa. Arrive in Lhasa. Meet our guide and then transfer to Lhasa city and have a rest for acclimatization.
Be greeted and offered a white scarf (called Hada) in a Tibet traditional way which brings yougood luck. Have a rest for the acclimation after arrive in Lhasa city.
Lhasa: the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region with an elevation of 3650 meters (12,000 feet) above the sea level, nicknamed Sunlight City. It is the highest city in the world. This ancient sprawling city, settled 1,300 years ago, is the region's political, economic and cultural center as well as a sacred place of Tibetan Buddhism.
Day 02-03-04 12,13,14 October sightseeing in Lhasa:Visit Potala place, Jokhang temple, Barkhor Street, Tibet museum, Norbulinka park, Drepung monastery and Sera monastery
Potala palace, the highest palace in the world! It was added to the list of world culture heritage sites by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994.At the roof of it, you can have a bird-eye view of Lhasa.
Jokhang temple, it is the first built during the period of Sontsan Gambo in the 7th century; it is also the first monastery for most pilgrims to visit as it is widely recognized as the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism. Then sightseeing or shopping at Barkhor Bazaar near Jokhang temple.
Drepung Monastery-largest monastery in Tibet; at its peak time, there were more than 10,000 monks. It was founded in 15th century at5km to the western suburb of Lhasa, and once served as the living palace of Dalai Lama before reconstruction of Potala Palace.
Sera monastery, which was created in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist seminary; as rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called “the court of wild rose”. Today still 200 lamas live in there. There you can enjoy the exciting Scripture debating of Lamas (monks)
Day 05 15 October Lhasa—Namtso: visit Namtso Lake and half day trekking
Namtso Lake is one of the three most sacred Lakes in Tibet, located at the northern Lhasa-Dangxung County. You can get there from Lhasa in 3hours.It is just like a crystal gem inlaid on the vast Qiangtang Plain. The Nyaiqen Tanglha mountain range peaks over 7000m, towers over the lake to the south Thawed snow from this range makes the body of the lake, so the water is a miraculous shade of turquoise blue, and there are magnificent views of the nearby. The wild open spaces are intoxicating and dotted with the tents of local nomad herders.
Day 06 16 October Namtso—Shigatse: Yangpachen and Tashilunpo monastery. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet.
Tashilunpo monastery is Shigatse’s traditional and native monastery. It is one of the six famous monasteries in Tibet and Shigatse's foremost attraction, also is the residence of Panchen Lama, There you’ll find the tallest bronze Buddha statue in the world
Day 07 17 October Shigatse—Gyantse: Shalu monastery, Palkhor monastery with Kumbu pagoda
Today, drive to Gyantse, visit Shalu monastery which is the mixture architecture of Han style and Tibetan style on the way. In Gyantse you will visit Palkhor Monastery as well as the splendid Kumbum Stupa (100-Thousand-Buddha Pagoda) nearby, both of them built in the15th century and situated in the northwestern edge of Gyantse. This typical Tibetan Buddhist monastery is the only one large building complex in Tibet that old monastery and stupas are completely preserved and characterized as symbol of a monument. It is recorded 14,000 kilograms of bronze was used to make the 8-meter-high sitting statue of Sykamoni Buddha housed in the grand hall of the temple. The 8 story Stupa is 42m high and 62m in diameter contains a total of 76 chapels with wonderful murals revered by art scholars around the world.
Day 08 18 October Gyantse -Tingri: visit Sakya monastery.
Day 09 19 October Tingri –Rongbuk monastery, Mt. Everest Base Camp and Base Camp exploration.
Day10 20 October drive from Everest Base Camp to Shigatse
Day11 21 October Shigatse- Tsedang: visit Samye monastery
Drive 200km to the south of Lhasa area, you can get Tsedang prefecture, it is cradle land of Tibetan civilization.
Samye Monastery was built in 761 and is the first formal monastery that establishes triratna in Tibet. Combining Chinese, Tibetan and Indian architecture style, the structure reflects the ideal universe of Buddhism. There are many valuable and unique murals which hardly can be seen at anywhere else. Usually we will take a ferry to visit it crossing the Yurlong Tsangpu River.
Day 12 22 October Tsedang: visit Yongbulakang, the first palace in Tibet.
Day 13 23 October Tsedang-Lhasa, free day in Lhasa,
